In 2018 Kessler was one of 4 artists leading a communal process to design two public open spaces at Kibbutz Harduf – the cemetery and a central path in the kibbutz. The projects were created together with some 20 residents, were well received and have been partially executed.

The planning process was outlined by social artist Axel Ewald [PhD], one of the 4 leading project artists with the goal of achieving consensus through greater involvement of the residents and ‘users’.

Project leaders met with the residents several times to observe, brainstorm and work out models, producing a theoretical vision and design alongside practical options.
